Space Age traits may well have other consequences in the plant's
physiology, some of which may indeed be lethal. Due to the
distortion of inheritance patterns we may expect if this be true, we
will need particularly astute geneticists and plant physiologists to
help interpret the data. Fortunately such people do exist within the
fold of the Society. I have some confidence their aid can be
enlisted.

I did 2 years of graduate study in genetics back in 1976-8, and a
gene-splicing and DNA metabolism course in about 1985. Even so, i
find it very important to meet with my former professors at Kansas
State Univerity at regular intervals. Most are quite helpful.
Also when I read plant breeding journals, when I want something
clrified, I write or email the authors. usually, not always, I get
the help I need. If not, I try someone else.
In general, the professors are helpful but very busy.
