Re: [SpaceAgeRobin] CAT:WIDDERSHINS (Shine on thru, D Cream, Superstition

I sure wish the form of Widdershins was that good for me, Bill.  It isn't especially good here, and I haven't had the heart to use it for crosses.  Roberts' SHOPTALK, however, is one I like very much, and it has form, substance, branching and bud count.  I hope to bloom some seedlings from it this year, but my seedling patch is a disaster zone--so many of the seedlings died in the constant rain of two summers ago, didn't grow because they didn't get enough sun, then this last fall tried to wash out of the ground with the hurricane remnants.  I didn't get the repair work done--so I have a scattering of good healthy plants, some beginning to take off and grow, some just barely holding on, and not a bit of fall OR spring clean-up has gotten done, nor has lime or fertilizer hit the ground for two or three years running, I've lost count.

I am slowly gaining both strength and strength of will to do, and will just start in on one corner, and like Melinda Mae in one of Shel Silverstein's books, just eat away at the task one spoonful at a time.  It only took her 79 years to eat a whale.  I figure I can return my garden to order somewhat more quickly than that.

Since winter keeps intruding into spring (we had snow yesterday!) the irises are later than I've seen them here to date.  That's good!  Maybe it will mean that when it DOES become spring, it will stay that way.

I'll try Widdershins in a different location, after seeing your photo.  I need to lift it anyway.  It is not thriving any more where it is now.
