[SpaceAgeRobin] AIS:SAGE article in Bulletin

Dear SAGE team and interested others:

There WILL be included in the April *Bulletin* the SAGE article, and what is astounding is that the issue will go into the mail on or before MARCH 24th.

Bruce Filardi has a new mailing service handling the *Bulletin* mailing, and they have guaranteed him about the mailing dates.  That means you California and south-west folks may even get the *Bulletin* before your season is completely over.

The article recaps the rationale behind the SAGE project, and outlines the four cross types proposed for this year's crosses, previously set forth on this Robin.

Now, what I'd like to ask you southern early season folk who have already gotten into your TB season, what non-SA co-parents you have gotten successful crosses from SA pollens that fit the cross-types 1 and 2.  If you will post to the list those you selected, the others of us can try to match the identical crosses wherever we can.

The Merced-Modesto-Fresno folk are probably in late SDB season, if I am guessing correctly and about to bloom TB's.  As you get crosses that you know have taken, let the list know.

The more identical crosses we can produce, the better the information. SIMILAR crosses will be useful too.

Colleen and other Southern Hemisphere folk, if any are tracking the project,--it would be interesting to hear what pods you got from this season past of SAGE-compatible or similar crosses.

The cross-types were left flexible since our varying climates and conditions don't allow many identical crosses to be made across the board, France to Quebec to California and to Australia.  Our conditions--and varieties on hand--don't mesh well enough to be too rigorously the identical same in all gardens.  The more identical, the better, but similar is good.

An addendum--I've been seeing some photos of Burseen's SA's.  He has some incredible flowers--and even more incredible names for them.  I think it would be a good idea to take a good look at some of those.  ICE FOR BRICE is a white with a yellow beard that extends into a purple and white feathered (?) flounce.  I don't know how to describe this elaborated flounce structure.  Jim Rohrer is growing it.  Are any others on the list growing it also?

Burseen's garden address is T.B's Place, 1513 Ernie Lane, Grand Prairie, TX  75052-1106  The catalog is a short listing of his own and a selection of SA and mainline others, and has a one-sheet color insert with his intros included on it.
