Hi Colleen and Bill,
I use a brush and get 40%. I keep 4 or 5 brushes of various size and tip style on hand so I do not have to use the same brush over and over again. I might do a couple of crosses with one brush and then go find another. I clean brushes by licking them (acid in saliva…hypothesis at least) and then brush them against my leg to get any embedded pollen grains jarred loose. When I pollinate, I make sure each lip is entirely covered with pollen and will often use all three anthers from the pollen parent to ensure this.
Not disagreeing, just sharing my technique.
