Good Morning,
I have a lot of questions concerning Iris genetics and traits.
First, I know nothing of Iris genetics but assume some are similar
to Daylily traits. Which parent tends to pass along traits of plant
habit and bud count? With daylilies, it tends to be the pod parent
and color and form from the pollen parent.
Can Iris pollen be saved or frozen, and if so, how?
I have seen mentioned Diploid and Tetraploid. I understand the terms
and how they apply to lilies but not Iris. I don't see it mentioned
in Iris catalogs, so how do you know which is which? Do Dips only
cross with Dips etc.
I did order 15 SA from Nola's Iris website. They are mostly older
ones but I can't find many sites that sell SA. If you can recommend
some, I would appreciate it. Also, please recommend any SA which
tend to be good parent plants.
Thank you
