Hi Ruth,
Welcome to the Robin, there's a lot of collective knowledge here on
board and I think we can possibly get you started on your goal to
breeding smaller Space Agers. Having said that, it will be no easy
task since there are very few smaller SA's out there to start with.
You might try collecting pollen from your favorite MTB, SDB or BB
varieties and use them to cross on your TB Space Agers. Still, your
chances of getting SA off spring may be very small, say 1 in 50 or
less on this type of cross , in a worst case scenario, nothing at
all. You'll need to grow many seedlings and you should use parents
that are known to thrive in your climate. I'd suggest using
MESMERIZER because it thrives in Idaho and up where I live in Quebec,
it is also known to pass on more SA genes in crosses resulting in
larger appendages like spoons, flounces and rosettes.
The road you plan on following is surely one that is less travelled
but it's wide open for you to make some interesting break throughs.
Best of luck and please keep us posted as to what you decide to buy
for next year.
Chris
