Re: veggie-digest Digest V97 #1

Hello everyone! I am very happy to find this list as my husband and I are
starting our first veggie garden this year. We decided to start fairly
big and go for the gusto. Here is what we are planting in two seperate
gardens.

Main garden:
Oregon Sugar Pod Snow peas
Black Seeded Simpson Leaf lettuce
Spancross Hybrid Sweet Corn
Bush Blue Lake Beans
Burpee Big Girl Tomatoes
Better Boy Tomatoes
Straight Cukes (8")
Yellow Crookneck Summer Squash
Evergreen Hardy Scallions
Green Comet Brocolli

Kids garden:
Little Finger Carrots
Rabano Sparkler Radishes
Walla Walla Onions
Yukon Gold Potatoes
Burbank White Russet Potatoes
Red Norland Potatoes
Bell Peppers

We are planting the main garden in a 34' by 20' sunny area on a north
slanting gentle slope. Rows will be west to east (except for the corn
which will be in blocks) and as much as I hate bees, we need them for
polination, so I will have Marigolds bordering the garden. The kids garden
will be 10' by 10' with daisys and pansies. We are tilling the areas this
week and will be sowing onions, peas, lettuce, carrots, and radishes. I
started my cukes and marigolds by seeds 3 days ago, and just bought my
tomatoes, brocolli, onions, and peppers as starts from the nursery today. I
will keep them in the house for another 3-4 weeks until late May. I am
excited!!

Well, that is all for now!!
