Duncan,surely you jest?If your serious I almost feel sorry for you.They
do indeed have a fragrance/aroma.Each variety having its own slightly
different twist on the general 
theme.I use it as a yard stick as to taste expectations(most the time it
works too).

Granted not all are equally endowed with this "scent"but I for one would
seriously 
miss its summery promise.
