Veggie list - New Mail Message Vs Reply

Newcomers to the veggie List (and others)

This is just a note with a couple of pointers on how to use most mailing lists. It applies to most mailing lists not just veggie-list.

First, when you are starting a new topic, its best not to reply to a note with another subject. Instead, create an entirely new mail message and copy in the veggie-list@eskimo.com address in the "to" field. That way your message and replies to it will be organized separately as what is called a "thread". Even changing the topic on a reply won't create a new thread. On the other hand, don't create a new message in reply to a pre-existing topic. So in summary, "reply to any topic but create a new message for a new topic"

Secondly, when you do reply to a topic trim out or edit the previous responses. Leave in only enough of the previous message to make your reply make sense on its own. It cuts down on the time it takes to transmit your message to each member.

Thanks for taking not of these items. May your growing season be long and fruitful.
