Allan & Pam,
I think all of this is on the veggie list e-mail, that is how I am 
receiving it. I think we do have a language problem. I "can" tomatoes 
in glass jars with the tin lids with a rubber ring under the lids. If 
the tomatoes juice is boiling when the jars are filled and the lids 
are placed on the jars, then the metal ring tightened, the jar is 
sealed as the juice cools.There does not need to be another processing 
procedure, such as a boiling water bath or pressure canning. Bottling 
and canning must be one and the same. I can see how your canning in 
the metal containers would be cost prohibitive compared to bottling.
 I will try freezing some tomatoes this year as you suggested, see how 
it works for me. I will also try freezing some corn again, I have 
tried every way suggested thru the years. It seems like if there is 
any water involved before freezing, when thawed, the corn  is water 
logged and mushy. Thank you both for all the good info.
