Burkette Mills in Penn Yan, NY sells buckwheat seed. They also buy
buckwheat, if you want to produce it commercially. It is usually planted
around August 1st in northern locations. I don't know if it is too late now,
but it certainly will be soon. Farther south, there is more time. It has a
short season, but it can't stand heat, so it should be growing as it cools off
a bit in the late season. It makes a great cover crop/green manure and it
feeds pollinators and birds.
