Stan, I do best with onion plants. (not sets) Buy them at the local feed
store and set them out and stand back. They come held together with a
rubber band. You can buy different varietys and believe me it is worth the
small extra pennies. (hope this doesn't insult your cheaper side) I did
not plant onions this year as I am saving room for other vegetables. They
would have been planted in November here in California.
BYW, sets absolutely do not work for me. They just sit there and take up room.
