Re: Newbie question

amy,

you are seeing the peas bloom as they start the production process. in a
few you will see the white flowers drop and little pods begin to form.
when these become quite fat, you have peas! they will be quite sweet and
great to eat right from the pod. i picked some yesterday from my garden
and it is hard not to snack :).

on broccoli, i did start mine from direct seeding and they are doing
well. i didn't do the potting soil and fertilizer part though and they
are doing well. one is very tall and will probably send up it's head
soon. i also just started some more for fall planting, but am going the
transplant route this time.

the interesting thing about gardening is that one can do lots of
experimenting. plants are really very forgiving for all that we put them
through. i had the idea that you direct see the broccoli using the
method that your book described and also just planting it in the soil
with fertilizing it later and see which one does better. the results
could be fun.

O Lord,
help me not to plant more
than I can care for.
