This morning I checked out my vegetable garden before I went to work and to my
dismay, I saw that one of my big Blue Hubbard squash plants was all withered.
When I examined it closer, I saw a white gelatinous slime around the basal stem
of the plant that had apparently severed the plant from the roots. Does anyone
have any ideas as what this could be? I have been having problems with squash
bugs, which I have been diligently squishing, and borers are not unknown to
this region (Western New York, zone 5/6). Any help or advice would be greatly
appreciated. I would like to keep the rest of my plants.
Thanks!
Stacey
