Maries moles

Hi Marie, I certainly sympathize with you regarding the frustration you
describe in your battle with moles. For me its gophers! Just lost a hugh
artichoke plant, with chokes, to a crumby rodent. Sooo I give up and am
slowly building raised beds throughout the garden. For the vegetable garden
area, 4x8 in size, redwood (expensive) lined with hardware (small mesh)
cloth stapled to the bottom. This gives me plenty of depth and a tremendous
relief to not worry about losing our entire crop. When we save up enough we
will arrange a watering system but for now I am hand watering eight raised
beds full of tomatoes, zuchinni, zinnia, cleome, melons, carrots, a tall
bamboo held moonflower and misc. other veg's and flowers. Can't tell you how
wonderful it is. The rest of the garden will also be raised beds arranged in
a knot garden design...but that comes later or slowly. Right now I am
enjoying what we have and looking forward to more space for protected gardening.
