Hi All!
I know, I know, I live in Western New York and my climatic zone is
5/6. My garden club was selling seedlings in May and I adopted four
sweet potato vines to try. The variety is Beauregard, supposedly a short
seasoned variety intended for us Northerners who like to try to grow
strange things. Problem is, I don't have a clue how they should be
cultivated. I have grown potato potatoes before, but I don't even know
how the sweet potatoes develop. Do they grow on nodes off of the root
like normal potatoes? Are they suceptible to any particularily nasty
pests? When could I expect to harvest? Any advice would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks!
Stacey
