I don't believe kale is ever eaten raw. It does not fall into the category
of "tender greens" like spinach and chard.
I also am inexperienced with kale but have been doing some reading, as I
plan to plant kale this fall. I have read that kale should be boiled for
seven minutes in salted water in order to remove the bitterness, which
apparently steaming or stir-frying does not accomplish. Any other opinions
on this?
I am in zone 7 Maryland. Should I also be planting my kale at the end of
August? What other crops are suitable for late summer and fall planting?
Thanks,
Pat
