Hollyhock rust is species specific. It will not spread to non-Malva
plants. There are a few rust-resistant strains of hollyhock, but not
so far as I know for other Malva. Sanitation at the beginning of the
disease may help. Rust can be sprayed for before it gets hold, but not
cured. Pat
