Since we've been speaking of onion harvesting, I have a related garlic Q. Our
dog stepped on a nice garlic plant with her large dog paws and broke the stem
most of the way, but apparently not completely, since the broken part is still
green and appears alive. However, another stem has since sprouted. Should I
dig this garlic plant up, or leave it in the ground until September or
October? I live in Zone 5, by the way. I've never grown garlic before; last
October I separated a couple of heads bought on sale at the supermarket into
cloves and planted them all over. They all appear quite healthy. Also, is
there any reason not to do what I did--buying garlic @ the supermarket @
.10/head to plant, versus buying it from seed companies?
