Storing bare root plants

Holding bareroot plants is a great way to 'buy time'. We do that all the
time. The whole idea is the keep the roots cool and moist. You can use
almost any type of media, sawdust works great and is cheap. We've kept trees
, up to 8 eight tall in "heeled-in" and raised beds for over a year, there's
really no trick to it. The one other comment is that you're best advised to
keep the plants out of full sun. Best is partial shade, 'cus the plants are
not planted, and the media tends to dry out. 

If you don't have the time, or the weather isn't quite right, heel 'em.
