I would spend a little more and buy 2 or 3 year roots. You will get a
return by having fruit that much earlier. IMHO
The biggest problem people seem to have with these is weeding, they do
need to be kept weed free all year. So don't make it too far out of
the way. I am going to put mine on the north side of the herb garden.
The fronds are lovely, I think, and I visit the herb garden
frequently.

I have been debating whether or not to put in an asparagus bed (actually
each spring I have this debate). I keep thinking about the long wait until
I can harvest any so I go for the crops that I can grow in one season. More
immediate gratification. However, i love fresh asparagus. The local garden
center has 1 year roots - 15 for 7.99. What do you think - should I go for
it? Where is a good place to plant these. In an out of the way corner of
the garden?
