Re: Asparagus


Just think, if you had started your asparagus bed when you first thought
about it you would be harvesting them now!!  I finally started mine last
year after pondering the same thing. Asparagus like full sun and you should
plant 1 or 2 year roots.  I have heard that the older the roots the less
they like transplanting.  I started 2 yeat roots and have many sprouts
already.  I have been picking and freezing the ones thicker than a pencil
and leaving the rest to fern.  At they end of June I will stop picking them
altogether and let them all go to fronds.  I might even have enough for a
meal.  I can hardly wait.  Let us know what you decide.
