Wall of Water, a circular protection device made of plastic tubes
which you fill with water and put around your tomato plants.
I have used these and I think they did help protect but I've found
that potting them up (bigger and bigger pots) ndoors gives me better
results. The problem was that you had to put the WOW up for a week
before you planted or the ground was too cold, anyway. And planting
inside an establised WOW is tricky and messy. Impossible to use the
automators, which I like.
Tomatos planted in cold ground just sulk, they may live but they don't
really grow.
For the one or two plants that I may want to pamper, like the Stupice
I mentioned, I wrap a tomato cage in plastic and cover with an old
window. These would not offer the same insulation as the water but
are OK for my purposes and fit over the automator.
Now if I lived in a place where the ground warmed up and there was
still a danger of heavy frost, like some people in higher elevations,
I might go the other way.

I haven't used them myself, but was told you should put some bleach in
with the water, due to the algae problem that occurs inside those
water-filled tubes. Have been told they are very hard to clean.
