We have had exceptional results with Wall o Water (tm) here. You must
use them correctly, however, to get best results. Contrary to the ads
I never trust them to stand up on their own. I place stakes or a cage
inside. It is best to set them up 1-2 weeks ahead so they can prewarm
the soil. When it is very cold they are kept in teepee shape and
later at full open top. I use them on all heat-loving crops as our
temperatures drop into the 40s at night until almost the end of June
and we have 50's at night throughout the summer. I usually get 3-4
yrs out of each one. Our MG group buys them wholesale and sell them
back to ourselves at about $2.00 @. We started using them when they
first came out years ago. They were 75 cents @ then. I must have 30
of them at home. They need to be cleaned at the end of the season and
stored safely. There are plastic repair sleeves for damaged cells.
You can even make your own repair sleeve. I am sorry you had such a
bad experience with them. My worst year was when the geese got into
the garden and methodically tried to fish in each cell. That caused a
pile of damage and a few crushed plants on the ones they managed to
collapse. Feathers flew!
