Hi all! I just started an herb garden this week and wanted to know if
anyone could give me any advise, warnings on some herbs I have planted. I
want them to do well! I already know what not to companion plant together
(the only herb I have in my veggie garden is Dill next to my lettuce--I
might put some Chamomile next to my squash, but I dont have any more room
for herbs with the veggies), so this isnt a prob. I have 5 herbs growing
in my cold frame:
Curly Parsley
Oregeno (not sure which type)
Chives
Garlic
Purple Sage
And then I have a 3 1/2 ft by 7 ft bed next to the cold frame with these
herbs:
Borage
Beebalm
French Terragon
Echinacea Purpurea
Lime Balm (or at least that is what my grandmother say it is--I got it from
her, but I have only heard of lemon balm)
I have spaced the Borage to be about 4 ft away from the other herbs
because it is supposed to get wide, and my Terragon and Beebalm are in
spots whereit can widen freely as well.
And I am growing Fennel in a seperate spot in the yard (about 3 ft from the
veggie garden and herb bed) all by its lonesome because they get so big.
I would like to grow some more smaller herbs (ones that dont get too
wide--height is not a problem) but I am not sure which to choose. Some of
the herbs mentioned are for culinary purposes, some are for fragrance and
color.
TIA!!

By the way, my tomatoes are doing MUCH better--thanks to all who responded
to my posting "fried tomatoes"!
