	I've used sheep manure and hay bedding, also horse manure mixed with
chips, for years and I don't think it causes that many more weeds--if
any. I do put down fertilizer before I put the mulch on.  I also leave
the stuff out so it gets rained on a few days before I spread it.  I
spread it very thick--maybe3-4 inches deep.  Some people think it looks
a little odd, cause you can still see the "horse apples" at first, but
they go away after a while.  It makes the soil nice and dark and rich
after a few years.   Judy Warner
