Radishes need plenty of water and fast growing. 3 weeks is enough, 4
could be too long. Add some well rotted compost if you can. Take the
time to space the seeds out at 1"+ when you sow so that you don't have
to thin. If the necks get long & thick at all they are goung to seed &
will be tough & woody. Pull them when they are the size you want or at
4 weeks clear the lot (not over-winter ones)
French Breakfast is THE difficult one, if it likes you it will grow
easily, if it doesn't, go to a turnip-rooted variety eg sparkler, cherry
belle, helro(good in winter) etc, lots to choose from.

If you have stony soil they will grow easily in boxes of potting compost
as long as you never let them dry out, add a sprinkling of compost & sow
1" or more each way in a grid (you can do this on the table to save your
back!)
