Re: harvesting my veg.

Hi all,

Well the growing season is gradually coming to an end for this year
and its time to take stock. As I told you in my intro mail, I garden
for fun, but its nice if most of your seeds produce some edible
goodies!! Owing to some really good weather this year my spuds,
brassicas, tomatoes, beans, herbs, zukes, soft fruit ,edible weeds and my
flowers are all doing well. I am really chuffed!! We had
some kolhrabi t,other day, some raw in a salad and some cooked with a
nice white sauce. Soon I will be tramping through the woods and
hedgerows collecting elderberries,blackberries ,sloes and
billberries. With these we will make some great wines, jams and
jellies. Plumbs, apples and pears will be turned into wine and
cider. If I can find some walnuts I will make a nice, warming walnut
liquor, very efficatious for colds and chest problems. Then there
will be the usual end of year gardening jobs to be done. So as you can
see, I am going to be very busy!!! But I will still find plenty of
time to sit an cogitate in my shed." Her in-doors" suggested that I get
a bed and sleep in it. Not a bad idea!! Now I am going on some hols
to Austria on Friday for a week so I wont be posting any mail untill
Monday the 20th. See you all then.

All the best, Dave from Pudsey.
