Hi, this (bright lites) is the chard that I grow. It is totally edible. Very good in fact. I dont grow it in summer however, but in our mild winters. It is never bitter here in so. calif. And it is beautiful as well, with different plants exhibiting colors from traditional green to red through yellows and salmon colors. A very satisfying crop. Janet.
