Shrub suggestions

I have a place I need to fill (removed a camellia I didn't like) in a
semi-shady area, good drainage, edge of woodland conditions. I live in zone
6b, Oregon, so winter wet is a consideration and we also get wicked winter
winds and ice at times.
The size could be largeish (8 x 8), I'd prefer something that bloomed before
or after lilacs, with flowers or great foliage, scent is always nice and I
adore anything that berries.
Any suggestions?
