Camellia japonica in a pot?

Has anyone ever tried this?  I have a neighbor who loves pots and has a very
small garden (she relies a lot on pots for this reason).  She buys very
large, nice pots, but of course a c. japonica wants to get very large.   What do you think?  Do you think it would cooperate at least for several
years, or break her pots and insist on growing?  She takes good care of her
pots and plants; it won't be neglected.
