buds on Magnolias

If the Magnolia blooms late the buds will be smaller since they will
have more time to develop. I went to Dr. Frank Gaylon's garden before
the freeze to smell the Magnolias. He is a well known hybridizer of
magnolias. He's were in full bloom but not the later blooming ones.
The fragrance is unreal but then I found some that did not smell good.
