Re: Physocarpus opulifolius ~ Diabolo Ninebark

I have had Dart's Golden Ninebark for several years...it is one of the
loveliest things all year, but especially when the lime-green leaves
begin
erupting from the rust colored peeling bark, bringing color to dark
days.  It
complements everything in its vacinity that blooms all year, from early
yellow
Rhododendron lutescens and Rh. PJM, to later pink, white and rose
rhodies....then Cotinus 'Grace', a hybrid coggygria and obovatus, with
its
reddish tinged  leaves, ornamental rhubarb and the variegated leaves of
Cornus
controversa.  I think I would trade any other shrub for it (exept
rhodies)
before I'd give it up.  I am unfamiliar with 'Diablo'.  Perhaps I "wax
too eloquently", but his ninebark is the centerpiece of that part of our
garden.  It
gets sun until about 3 PM, If it blooms, they are not as memorable as
the foliage.
