Ooops! Sorry, I totally neglected to say anything personal about the
tree! :)
They're definitely nice! You may want to see if you can find the cultivar
'Stadher's Hill' which supposedly has deep reddish fruit (I'm looking
at Dirr's book right now). I've never seen a really nice specimen
(probably because they're pretty uncommon), so I don't have much to say
about them. But from everything that I've read they're really nice
trees to have!
One other thing that I had forgotten is that the seeds also need cold
stratification in addition to scarification, so after you soak the
seeds you'll want to plant them and store them in the fridge for 3
months or so (around 40 degrees), keeping them moist. You could also
wrap them in moist paper towels, or even plant them outside in the
fall after soaking or filing them.
