Hi, I think I found it on the research site of UBC. They list a choke
berry not cherry but the photo looks like them. I guess I'll plant it and
say my garden prayer "I can always move it":-) For anyone intereasted this
is what they say about it:
· Aronia melanocarpa 'Autumn Magic', family Rosaceae, common name: Eastern
Chokeberry, Black Choke berry. Native to eastern north America. - upright
deciduous shrub to 2M. dark green glossy leaves3x5cm. Fragrent white
flowers in dense flat inflorescences in May. Attractive clusters of shiny
black berries(edible but very bitter) appear in fall and foliage turns a
brilliant mixture of red and purple. Soil : most soils from average to
moist, full sun to partial shade,.pruning- little required but winter
pruning to check growth and encourage branching. Zone 3
Thanks to all for your replies Gerri
