If the power companies are receptive to the above idea, you might inquire if
they could auger the lines in. The utility co.'s all have augers. We augered
in our gas
line as well as our sewer in'00. It doesn't damage tree roots. We even went
thru
a wetland area in our backyard and the Corps of Engineers approved it..as a
matter of fact, they welcomed that method.
It is more expensive than trenching power lines in but since they have the
equipment, why not use this method in certain areas where the destruction
would
be unconscienable. Worth a try.
