RE: Substitute for blue spruce

Hi Susan, There are several Junipers that have very blue foliage, but not
the traditional "Christmas Tree" shape. Juniperus 'Boulevard' comes to
mind. It has rather a tall slim shape like Italian Cypress, but mature
height is shorter. Clackamas Community College has a nice display border of
conifers around the parking lot next to the greenhouses. They were labeled
the last time I looked. You might be able to get some ideas there.

Subject:	Substitute for blue spruce

This Christmas when I was working with evergreens shared with me by my
neighbors, I came to really love and appreciate the blue spruce branches.
But with this particular evergreen, they don't call those "needles" for no
reason! They were very stiff and sharp (as opposed to fir or noble which
are pretty soft and supple).

I would like to plant something myself with this wonderful blue color, but
would like to avoid being stabbed while working with the branches. Any
suggestions?
