Hi Susan,
Father Fiala (author of Timber Press's "Flowering Crabapples" and
"Lilacs: The Genus Syringa") introduced a series of lilacs that
are being propagated by Knight Hollow Nursery in Madison, WI.
One of his selections, 'Yankee Doodle', is a dark, dark purple on
long, extremely floriferous panicles. Because it originates from
the common lilac, I imagine that the fragrance is strong, but
I'm not sure.
