Does anyone out there have any favorite "odd" lilacs? I'm particularly
interested in rare or uncommon species -- but they have to look nice!
No favorites because they're freaks of nature!
I saw Syringa wolfii at the Morton Arboretum a few years back (in the
Korean plants collection) while it was in full bloom, and I have to
say that it was one of the most stunning lilacs that I have ever
seen. The shrub was dense and compact, topping off at about 4', but
the flowers were in 6" long panicles, heady with fragrance, and a
nearly luminescent rosy-pink with white edges.
