Gosh I haven't heard from you in ages!
I have this plant as well. It is in a huge pot at the base of a huge
tree because there was no way on God's green earth I'd get inbetween
those roots. Even in thise less than idea conditions, my plant flowers
year and so far, after 5 years, is about 10' tall. I'll take it! I'll
have to check out the fragrance!

Subject: Schizophragma hydrangeoides blooming!
For years now I've had a Schizophragma hydrangeoides 'Moonlight'
climbing up the trunk of a young oak tree at the bottom of my driveway.
In the beginning growth was kind of slow, but a couple of years ago the
vine took off and climbed about thirty feet up into the crown. Every
year there has been some dieback, but it has always grown back up again
(zone 5b).
Anyhow, I noticed blooms on it for the first time ever yesterday! I
took a photo (at 8pm with a flash, so it's horrible) that can be viewed
at

The flowers are only at the base of the vine right now, but I look
forward to the day when there are many more. :) I was also surprised
to learn that they're fragrant! The scent reminds me of linden blossoms
a little.
