The rootball was not very well established, I had originally bought this plant at this size two years ago and wanted it growing near my pond and had hoped that my neighbors trees would grow enough to establish good shade. They didn't causing severe stress to the plant which lost all of her bottom leaves however there are two new sprout coming up from the bottom.

Remove EVERY leaf for right now. Since there are no roots to speak of,
the leaves will breath out all the moisture there is. Then fertilize
with a good root stimulant. Sprouts will begin to show from the stumps
and it will fill out. Don't look for flowers for 2 years, tho.

I had to move 10 20+ year old rhodies in the middle of summer a few
years ago. Didn't lose a one. I cut the branches down to stubs on
these, tho, for ease of accessability.

Good luck.
