Big Cone

I found a very large cone the other day, approximately 12-14" long, width
about 3", seeds about the size of a quarter.  (Dr. Kling if you are out there,
dont be disappointed) It looks like a pine cone but could be spruce?  It was
in a residential neighborhood and I did not see any out of the ordinary
conifers in the area although I did not look long.  I am in the West Suburbs
of Chicago, Zone 5.  Any ideas?
