Re: Aesculus californica


There is a wonderful specimen at the JC Raulston Arboretum with smooth grey 
bark and very nice trunk and branch structure.  This is important because it 
leafs out really early and then loses it's leaves by June or July here in 
central NC.  Flowers are quite showy and the plant is tough.  I have seen one 
in New Mexico.
