In my book this is a plant that everybody should have -- the 6" long
fragrant, white flowers seem to ooze from this shrub in late June/early
July. Probably the best ornamental aspect is the reddish-purple fall
color that makes the plant seem to glow.
It gets about 3-4' high and is somewhat broad-rounded in shape. Native
to wet areas in the wilds of Eastern U.S., it still does well in
dry, sunny, soils. Soil fertility is a big bonus to encourage growth,
however. It will grow much faster with moisture.
