I, too, have a Davidia. In researching this tree, it says 7 years to
throw its' first bloom, and 20 years before it reaches its prime.
One reference said it is well worth waiting for.
Mine is about 5 feet tall and just now breaking bud. I intend to keep
it containerized until I build the house on the Greenhouse property, at
which time I will begin the gardens. I'm stashing some good trees and
plants as I come across them. Davidia, Styrax japonica, Stewartia
psuedocamellia, Styrax obassia, Lairx kaemferi 'Diana', Larix pendula,
Cerdiphyllum japonica 'Pendula'....you get the picture.
