We have a native plant called Indian Plum (Oemleria cerasiformis) that
sounds like your plant or a relative thereof. It has the same habit of
growth. It does bloom very early in spring.
I looked it up in a native plant book I have and it looks similar but your
scans are so much closer and better that I couldn't say more than that.
