Overwintering Figs

Does anyone have any suggestions for the best way to overwinter figs?
I don't know the variety name. I live in MD in zone 7 and the figs are 
planted in what I hope will prove to be a protected site between the 
driveway {black asphalt} and a 4 foot high brick wall. They get plenty 
of heat in the summer this way but I don't know how this affects what I 
need to do with them for the winter.
