Re: World Aroid Club?

Letter from the News Editor

Please don't send ANY more private emails to me about my CATALYTIC QUESTION "What do MEMBERS think about having a World Aroid CLUB"?

If you got anything to say, please say it on Aroid-L the only place Members CAN write OPEN & PUBLICALLY.  Several Members have bravely done so & given fine unequivocal criticism but the provokation apparently caused so much consternation
behind closed doors that I got VERY distressing private emails. I will accept no more & if you do send your NEGATIVITIES I will answer them POSITIVELY in PUBLIC but leave YOU with your DIGNITY.   So say it in Public!

A World Aroid Club is in my suggested model. an Association of "TOGETHER" IAS MEMBERS all over the World who know all the plants each of them have & need, the most important being those who are key SPECIALISTS in GENERA.   An IAS Members  World Living Aroid database.    There are countless "only one" plants in Collections out there about which we know nothing & which maybe ought to be in tissue culture.

I am the unpaid IAS "News" Editor
Not for much longer maybe, tough!
I TRY to be POSITIVE & GENEROUS!
I TRY to be FUN & APPRECIATIVE!
Everything is IMPORTANT
Nothing is THAT serious.
I am LOYAL to the friends I commit to.
I have unimpeachable INTEGRITY
I am to be TRUSTED & to TRUST
I am VERY SENSITIVE but have no insecure or fragile PSYCHE
I am not ambitious & have no delicate EGO to defend
I TRY to treat others with civility, respect & DIGNITY & expect reciprocation.
I work, like everybody else, but in ten weeks have wrecked myself for IAS while some spectated positively & negatively.
I hope SOME of you appreciate my efforts to make IAS better.
You may not immediately like the way I write but persevere, often the literature is worth reading, & if you read BETWEEN the words, you may get the real message.    It takes care, & EVERYBODY who writes publically deserves that respect & dignity.   They may NOT be saying what at first sight you THINK they are.   They are all GOOD people if YOU let them be.
If you have something to say for good or bad to help the IAS then do it publically don't just be paranoid, resentful or grouse about it in private.  Members DIALOGUE surely ought to be EXAMPLES of refined literature.

Thank you for your kindnesses but I have now had ENOUGH of the few people who aren't necessarily IAS Members who write NEGATIVELY to me in Private.    Write your NEGATIVITIES on Aroid L so WE can help you become POSITIVE.

This is a WORLD Society.  It can no longer be parochial American with its "offshore" Members.   It needs the help & vision of EVERY WORLD MEMBER to bring it to its GREATEST POTENTIAL.

In case you have yet to realise
I insist on doing the best job I can
And anticipate other members will do the same

Now adapting the Question.  Would like some IAS Member to assemble an ongoing Web Site Member Database of Living World Aroid Assemblages?  Do we have a queue?

And, those spectators on Aroid L who aren't yet Members, please JOIN.   It isn't much.  Put your money where your mouth sounds.

And if I am censured for this, tough, sack me.

Subject: World Aroid Club?

What's the next carousel?

Anything funny happened on the way to the Show?

Tell you what!

On the 16th July, one Member in France is still waiting for his Newsletter.
Any auction bids on that?

Don't despair!   I hope to have News 23(2) ready for Jill our Graphics
Editor to apply graffiti on 24th or 25th of.....July.   So maybe our Inuit
Members will get their 23(2) direct before 23(1)?  You just gotta laugh else
you'd surely crock.   The Web Site "Show" Page is waiting final details
before posting.

The magnificent "Living Rain Forest" in UK is interested in buying, &
exchanging spectacular aroid species which do grow theirselves big.    I
have now persecuted them into joining the World Aroid Club.   (All the
properly named plants you every dreamed about may be there where I'm now
plotting....).

What do Members think about having a World Aroid Club?
