re:basic aroid question??

I raise colocasia, common elephant ears, in full sun in El Paso, Tx.
They are planted under my water hydrant and are thus constantly moist, 
but they must like what I do as they grow to 42 inch leaves not the 
specification 24 inch which the books tell you.

I have read that you can do the same with caladiums but the leaves will fade.
