Position Opening
Fundraising Consultant for American Community Gardening Association
Application deadline: June 7, 2002

Temporary, part time position, beginning immediately through July, 2002.

The American Community Gardening Association, (ACGA) seeks to hire a
temporary, experienced fundraising consultant, starting immediately, not
to
exceed 100 hours, assisting this national community gardening networking
organization in its capacity building transition from a volunteer
managed
organization to one managed primarily by a board working with
professional
staff. This transition would expand existing programming beyond its
current
scope and create new programs, allowing the ACGA Board to focus more
heavily
on policy making, fundraising and strategic planning for the
organization. 

Responsibilities:

*	Review existing strategic planning documents, proposals, Letters
of
Inquiry, related to capacity building working from a prospect list
provided
by the Executive Committee of ACGA and the Development Committee
Chairperson.
*	Write ten or more capacity building grants to known funders of
ACGA.
*	Develop follow-through and time frame for grant management and
continued relationship with funders from "the ask" to "point of
funding".
*	Schedule appointments with funders, the Executive Committee and
others as appropriate
*	Present a full report of capacity building activity to date at
ACGA
board meeting  July 23-24,  2002 in New York City
Qualifications:
*	Experience with grant writing and coordination, with ability to
provide samples of successful proposals.
*	Knowledge of national foundation and corporate giving
opportunities.
*	Availability for July 23-24 board meeting presentation and
report.
*	Must be willing to work from NYC (lower Manhattan) office
location.
*	Ability to communicate effectively in managing capacity building
grants from writing the grant proposals to setting up appointments with
prospective funders initiating the ask through to the point of funding.
Accountability:
	The consultant will work directly with the Executive and
Development
Committees of ACGA
